Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION:       

Production position, working under the supervision of an experienced technician and/or Production Foreman.

Responsibilities

FUNCTIONS:

 

Production Technician

Build and maintain new and existing field vehicles and related equipment. Perform repair work, adjustments, troubleshoot and address maintenance issues as required. Ensure vehicle safety compliance as it pertains to equipment, verify newly built vehicles meet all requirements for field service. Participates in shop safety, field safety, health and environmental programs.

 

Electrical Technician

Understanding electrical schematics, drawing and blueprints. Understanding of mechanical components and how it relates to electrical wiring, hydraulics, pneumatics and basic cabling installations for new builds and maintaining existing equipment. Ability to read blue prints for production assemblies and troubleshooting existing equipment. Works with minimal supervision and able to complete tasks given by supervisor in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Education: High School Diploma/GED. Post-secondary education and/or technical trade certificate is an asset.
    • Experience: Two to three years’ experience in the function listed above.
    • Skills/Qualifications: Proficiency with basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to effectively use software to input data and conduct research.
    • Skills/Competencies:

    -Communicate effectively; work in a team environment or independently when needed

    - Using crimping tools and wires to build electrical system enclosure

    - Testing and troubleshoot wires (volts, amps, resistance, continuity meter), identify wire and electrical circuit)

    - Reading electrical blue prints

    - Soldering connectors, wires

    - Basic knowledge about relays, breakers, electrical valves, power supply, plc, hmi

    - Using power tools

    - Knowledge about American wire gauge standard

    - Motorizing dc bi-directional motors connection

    - Basic automotive electrical system knowledge (battery system connection, dc fuse panel, ignition signal).

    - Wiring and pulling cable according to Sperry standards

    - Basic mechanical skills (tapping, use proper size of screw for special application)

    - Minimum knowledge about encoder signals system

    - Install and mount computers unit inside rack cabinet, run cable to appropriate equipment, test it
