Overview

Position Summary

This is a leadership role responsible for the organization’s safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. This role involves developing, implementing, and maintaining safety policies, procedures and training programs in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. The Safety Manager will collaborate closely with operational groups, field personnel and leadership to promote a culture of safety, manage incident reporting and drive continuous improvements in safety improvements.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Safety Program Management

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive safety strategy aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain safety policies, procedures and programs in alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Identify emerging safety trends and anticipate regulatory changes to proactively address potential risks.
  • Identifying potential hazards and risks in the workplace and implementing control measures to mitigate them.
  • Remain current on all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations ensuring the organization meets all applicable legal requirements.

Training and Education

  • Coordinate and provide guidance on safety training programs for field and office staff, including new hire orientation and safety certifications.
  • Ensure employees at all levels have the knowledge and skills necessary to perform their jobs safely and responsibly.
  • Maintain records of employee certifications and training completion.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

 

Incident Management and Reporting

  • Develop protocols for responding to safety incidents.
  • Support field management with process for conducting thorough investigations of incidents, injuries and near misses to identify root causes, prevent recurrence and implement corrective actions.
  • End-to-end ownership of incident management processes including standardized documentation and reporting protocols.
  • Develop and maintain detailed incident records and reporting mechanisms for regulatory agencies, leadership and operations.
  • Collaborate with HR and Operations to develop return-to-work plans for injured employees.

 

Safety Inspections and Audit

  • Conduct regular job site inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
  • Work with project managers and field supervisors to address safety concerns promptly and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and implement corrective action plans to resolve non-compliance or safety risks.

 

Metrics and Reporting:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of safety programs and initiatives.
  • Track safety performance metrics, including incident rates, near-miss reports etc.
  • Prepare regular reports and presentations for senior leadership, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.

 

Budgeting

  • Develop and manage the safety department budget and allocate resources effectively.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • S. Degree
  • 5-10 years of experience in safety management with significant experience in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools. Familiarity with safety management systems, tools and best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards, including OSHA, OHS, EPA, and ISO requirements.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful safety programs and initiatives in a multinational corporation.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyze complex issues, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Travel up to 50%
