Overview

SUMMARY OF POSITION:       

Support level position, working under the indirect supervision of an experienced technician. May have supervisory duties over projects or personnel.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follow company safety policies in both the shop and the field.
  • Maintain clean workspace and monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate resources to perform required tasks.
  • Travel between vehicles, performing field inspections and repairs when possible.
  • Communicate with field teams to ensure the mobile mechanic truck is equipped with necessary parts and tools before mobile maintenance rotation.
  • Repair and maintain field vehicles, Railbound, HighRail, and YTV related equipment/components, perform field order repairs, inspections, adjustments, and troubleshoot maintenance issues.
  • Report/record the condition of vehicles. (Audits)
  • Fabrication and modification of new or existing equipment when required.
  • Ensure vehicle & equipment meet safety and quality compliance standards.
  • Participate in safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Perform maintenance-related special projects as required.
  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform vehicle audits and log work in FMIS System.
  • Work under limited supervision, following procedures to complete assigned tasks
  • Diagnose and perform vehicle mechanical, control system, hydraulic system, and electrical system repairs.
  • Carriage component repairs and routine maintenance.
  • Kubota and hydraulic generator repairs.
  • Respond to service calls and emergency breakdowns.
  • Complete software entry associated with repairs, parts, and time spent on the repairs.
  • Complete expense reporting for costs incurred during mobile maintenance rotation.

  • Interacts at all levels within the organization.

  • Interacts across departmental boundaries.
  • Scope: Actions may have an impact on customer relationships and the financial condition of the company.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • 3 weeks of mobile work, 1 week off.
  • Up to 100% travel during mobile maintenance rotations.
  • Travel, accommodation, and per diem expenses paid by the company.

 

SAFETY COMPLIANCE:

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.  Report any safety violations or fault conditions to the supervisor.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • 2 years of electrical systems experience
  • 2 years of mechanical systems experience
  • 2 years of diesel engine experience
  • Experience with shop work order programs
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and assembly drawings
  • Commercial Driver’s License (CDL B) or equivalent
  • Skills/Competencies: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Maintain a relationship with the customer and follow up on all customer complaints. Always maintain a professional and positive attitude toward employees and customers.
