Overview

Position Summary

A Fleet Support Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and support of a company's fleet of vehicles. This includes tasks like vehicle maintenance, ensuring compliance with regulations, managing technician schedules, and tracking vehicle performance. Essentially, they ensure the fleet runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely.

Responsibilities

Essential Responsibilities:

Fleet Operations

  • Managing the daily activities of the fleet, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching.

Maintenance and Repair

  • Overseeing vehicle maintenance, repairs, and replacements, ensuring vehicles are in optimal condition.

Safety Compliance

  • Implementing and enforcing safety procedures and ensuring the fleet meets all relevant regulations.

Cost Management

  • Monitoring fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and other expenses to optimize fleet performance and reduce costs.

Inventory Management

  • Tracking vehicle locations, mileage, and other relevant data to maintain accurate records and identify needs.

Communication

  • Maintaining clear communication with drivers, mechanics, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Problem Solving

  • Addressing any issues that arise, such as accidents, breakdowns, or delays.

Performance Monitoring

  • Tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) like fuel efficiency, maintenance costs, and driver safety to identify areas for improvement.

Reporting

  • Preparing reports on fleet performance, maintenance, and other relevant metrics.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School diploma/GED.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of vehicle fleet management.
  • Skills/Qualifications: Computer skills, extensive knowledge with truck maintenance, people management, purchasing and vehicle compliance.
  • Skills/Competencies: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Plan, organize and lead projects/programs. Cost control and proper budgeting.

  • Technical Proficiency: An understanding of vehicle maintenance and repair, as well as experience with fleet management software and tools.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate records.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with drivers, mechanics, and other stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to motivate and manage a team of drivers and other personnel.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and identify trends to improve fleet performance.
  • Knowledge of Regulations: Understanding of relevant safety regulations and compliance requirements.

Organizational Relationships/Scope

  • Reports to Sr. Manager of North American Fleet Maintenance
  • Interacts at all levels within organization.
  • Interacts with customers personnel.
  • Interacts across departmental boundaries.
  • Scope: Actions have a direct impact on the success of the Company.

 

Working Conditions

Majority of the work will be completed regionally, with travel being necessary for meetings and management of personnel and region fleet.

 

Safety:

 

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment. Report any safety violations or fault conditions to the supervisor.
