Overview

Position Summary

The Junior Buyer supports the procurement team in sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities. This role is responsible for qualifying vendors, evaluating bids, issuing and tracking purchase orders, and ensuring on-time delivery of materials and services. The Junior Buyer also assists with supplier analysis, reporting, and maintaining accurate purchasing documentation.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist with vendor qualification, evaluation of bids, and price/terms negotiations.
  • Issue and follow up on purchase orders to ensure correct pricing, terms, and specifications.
  • Track open orders and proactively expedite deliveries when needed to maintain production schedules.
  • Conduct supplier and material analysis to support sourcing decisions.
  • Support departments by ensuring adherence to purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and related procurement documentation as directed.
  • Assist with periodic supplier performance reviews, including quality and delivery performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Warehouse to support procurement needs.
  • Participate in cost reduction initiatives, alternative sourcing, and supplier consolidation projects.
  • Provide research and administrative support for procurement-related projects.

Qualifications

Qualifications – Must Haves

  • Associate degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Clear, concise, and professional communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while being a team player

Qualifications – Nice to Have

  • Experience with ERP systems (Sage X3 or similar).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including use of formulas and functions.
  • Basic knowledge of procurement best practices, supplier negotiations, and contract terms.
