Maintenance Technician I

Support level position, working under the indirect supervision of an experienced technician. May have supervisory duties over projects or personnel. On-site electrically minded mechanic to repair, maintain, rehab, and upgrade Sperry systems across the vehicle fleet.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Follow company safety policies in both the shop and the field.
• Maintain a clean workspace and monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate resources to perform required tasks.
• Repair and maintain field vehicles, rail-bound, HI Rail, and YTV and related equipment/components, perform field order repairs, inspections, adjustments, and troubleshoot maintenance issues.
• Report/record the condition of vehicles. (Audits)
• Fabrication and modification of new or existing equipment when required.
• Ensure that the vehicle & equipment meet safety and quality compliance standards, participate in safety, health, and environmental programs.
• Performs maintenance-related special projects as required.
• Ensure all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Perform vehicle audits and log SDMS.
• Work under limited supervision following procedures to complete assigned tasks.
• Diagnose and repair control systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Carriage component repairs and routine maintenance.
• Kubota and hydraulic generator repairs.
• Responding to service calls and emergency breakdowns.
• Conduct routine safety checks on all vehicles and equipment.
• Completes Fleet Wave computer or tablet entries associated with repairs, parts, and accounts for time spent on the repairs.
• Identifies and completes repairs identified on Vehicle audits.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School Diploma/GED
• 2 years of electrical experience
• 2 years of truck mechanical experience
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and assembly drawings
• Mechanical experience with work equipment, heavy trucks,
• Participate in after-hours on-call rotation
• Skills/Competencies: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Maintain a relationship with the customer and follow up on all customer complaints

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Class A or B CDL with air brake endorsement
